Q: Where are you located?
A: We're an ice cream truck. Most times, you’ll find us at OP Schnabel Park on Saturdays and Lion’s Field on Sundays.
We also cater to private events and places of business.
The easiest way to find our truck is to check our facebook page. We post live updates throughout the day. We also provide location details on CHAMOY Hotline: 210-744-0000. Please save this number to your phone.
Q: Do you make your own syrups?
A: Yes, 80% of our syrups are made from scratch starting with fresh whole fruit and cane sugar. You’ll find fresh syrups such as blackberry, lemon, orange, mango, grape, green apple, strawberry and many others. We also use some classic syrups such as Blue Coconut, Cherry, Cotton Candy, Cola, etc. to round out our inventory and to create new flavor combinations. Our chamoy is hand crafted using a blend of pickled fruit puree, chili peppers, citrus fruits and more! We dehydrate our own fruit during the summer to make our chinese candies from scratch and we do carry traditional candies such as gummy bears, sour belts and cherry sours.
Q: What is Chamoy?
A: Chamoy is a sour/sweet/spicy/salty condiment derived from pickled fruit, chili peppers, sugar and citrus. Pickled fruit is the basis for real chamoy, and we serve both “pureed” and “whole fruit” varieties on the truck and online.
Q: Is your menu always the same, or does it change?
A: About half of the menu always changes because we make our own product from scratch and we make it in small batches to guarantee freshness. Be sure to check our features board when you visit the truck because that’s where we list the new shaved ice flavors of the week!
Q: Do you serve food?
A: Our truck originally opened in 2012 as a food truck serving Tex-Mex classics and specializing in historic Texas Beef Chili. The truck was called “The Institute of Chili” and we were known as the modern-day “Chili Queens”. Our chili was named “Best Chili in America” by Food & Wine Magazine (November 2013) and we’ve been written about in many national publications like USA Today, Huffington Post, Travel & Leisure, Southern Living, Latina Magazine and more. We feature a limited menu featuring one or two chili queens classics at a time, such as the frito pie or the brisket tacos. Make sure to check the features board at the truck for our hot food selection of the day! Our complete Institute of Chili menu is still available for catering or special events.
Q: Do you do catering or special events?
A: Yes we do! We’ve done office visits, private parties, weddings, quinceaneras, corporate events and more. If you’d like to have us park at your place of business, we could do that, too. Contact: email@example.com
